Description:

“Please fasten your seat belt as we are about to take off to an unknown destination, with no clear direction in stormy weather”. Imagine sitting in an aircraft and hearing this message from your Chief Pilot. How would that make you feel? The resulting apprehension reflects the reality faced by the 6,400 employees of El Al, who sought clarity amid a climate where the future of their "second home" had become deeply uncertain.
In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic brought global aviation to a near-standstill, approximately 400 employees - primarily in middle-management positions - remained on duty while the rest of the workforce was furloughed. These staff members were tasked with navigating the airline's most significant crisis to date. Much like passengers bracing for turbulence, they were required to steer the company through unprecedented operational and strategic challenges.
Amidst this volatility, management and staff demonstrated unwavering dedication to the organization. Although they could not see clear skies ahead, they remained united in their commitment to navigate the crisis. This collective resolve - a shared determination to overcome obstacles and guide the airline back to stability - served as a crucial intangible asset, ensuring the organization’s endurance when its very survival was at stake.
